TGNP is a Non-Governmental Organization with the vision of seeing a transformed Tanzanian society characterized by gender equality, equity, empowered women, and social justice. To achieve this vision, TGNP seeks to build a transformative feminist movement for social gender transformation and women empowerment.

As TGNP implements its new SP 2021 – 2025 it has a goal of contributing towards deepening and enhancing ideological clarity on Transformative Feminist agenda for advancing social, gender equality, women empowerment, and movement building. This goal is ambitious and complex, and therefore, breaking it down into more explicit and measurable outcomes becomes imperative.

Through this vision and SP goal, the organization mandate aligns with UNFPA mandate in the transformative result area of ensuring that there is zero gender-based violence and harmful practice, in a manner that it expects to see a transformed Tanzanian society built on principles of gender equality, equity, empowered women, and social justice;

The Chaguo Langu Haki Yangu programme is implemented by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) with financial support from the Embassy of Finland in Tanzania for a period of three-and-a-half years (2021-2025). The programme aims to contribute to the progressive realization of the rights and choices of women and girls, particularly women and girls with disabilities in Tanzania, by addressing gender-based violence (GBV) and harmful practices including early, forced and child marriage, and female genital mutilation (FGM), through a multi-sectoral and multi-level response.

Under this year’s work plan TGNP will establish disability-inclusive Police Gender and Children Desks and train Police Officers in key locations to provide GBV, child marriage and FGM response services in Shinyanga, Mara and Zanzibar. The Police Gender and Children’s Desks offer survivors of violence and at-risk individuals respectful and confidential care, including legal and psychosocial support, and referral services to appropriate facilities including medical services.
